Giving Back

Bordercon
Charity Raffle

What is the BorderCon Charity Raffle?

Every year we select a new charity to be supported by the attendees of BorderCon. Where possible we try to select a charity that affects one of our own - a member of the gaming community. Beyond that we try to select a charity with wide reaching social benefits and where possible a charity that is not already hugely supported by government funding. In past years we have supported the Lyme Disease Association of Australia, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Haemophilia Foundation of Australia, ME/CFS Australia (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Albury-Wodonga, Beyond Blue, Down Syndrome Victoria and The McGrath Foundation (funding for a Matastatic Breast Care Nurse for 3 Years).

In all we have raised over $38,000 over the years and it is one small way that we can give back as a community.

The Cause 2023

Lifeline Australia

Lifeline does an amazing job Australia wide in supporting people that have nowhere else to turn and need support to get through the night, next day or simply to get back on their feet in times of uncertainty. Lifeline is being called upon more than ever in the wake of COVid, the housing\rental crisis and now...cost of living pressures. BorderCon is proud to be supporting this organisation for 2023 and we hope you will too

How can I be involved?

Over the course of the weekend the BorderCon team will be selling raffle tickets for the BorderCon Raffle. Tickets are $5 each, 5 for $20, 20 for $50 and 50 for $100. We take cash but we now also have an electronic service to offer a cashless service.

In return, ticket holders have a chance to win some great prizes. We have an amazing selection of games that will be on display over the weekend and they will all be won by those that support the Charity Raffle!

The raffle is drawn at 1pm on Sunday and more than $1,200 worth of prizes will be given away. Each winning ticket will be called out and the winner will be able to select 1 item from the prize table in the order they are drawn.

Please note you must be present to claim your prize. If no one comes forward to claim a winning ticket a redraw will take place. If a ticket is lost a replacement will not be issued, we recommend storing them in your lanyard for safekeeping or a ziplock bag.

Be a part of the fun!

We also encourage attendees to bring something along to donate to the prize table. Over the years gamers have donated games, promos, map packs, out-of-print items, gaming accessories and other game-related novelties.

We often use these items as lucky door prizes or to fill mystery boxes. If an item is of significant value we will add it to the Charity Prize Table. All we ask is that donations are something most people would want and not a convenient way to offload items of little interest\value.
